There is no doubt that google photos is a home for your memories. Using Google Photos you can save lot of storage on your device. You can safely store all your photos and videos to Google Photos for free and enjoy them from any synced device you want.

It is sad and freaky to see other people's photos in your Google Photos which you have no idea about.

You have installed Google Photos and started uploading your gallery photos to Google Photos and it continues daily. Suddenly, on one day you might have seen pictures of strangers whom you have no idea about and started thinking who the hell he/she is...?
At this point you are worried, confused and you ask yourself, why am i seeing other people's pictures on my Google photo? Is my account compromised...?

Why am I getting photos that aren't mine in my Google Photos

On this page you will know clearly why Someone else's photos are showing up in your Google Photos.

As a fellow Google Product user i can say that Google Photos does not add or delete pictures in your Google Photos. You have the authority to do it.

Why do i see someone else's Google Photos?

Here are some possible reasons why someone else's photos or unwanted photos are showing up in your Google Photos account.

It is possible that you have signed in to your Google Account on multiple devices. Using Google Photos you can Back up your data on signed in devices. It is possible that your Google Photos has automatic Back up & Sync turned ON, on other signed in devices.

It is possible that you have received that image via messaging apps(social media apps) like Facebook, WhatsApp, Hangouts, Twitter, Snapchat...so on.

It is possible that your Google Account is compromised and someone uploaded theirs images in your Google Photos.(recommend to change your password immediately)

It is possible that you are accessing Google products like Google Drive, Blogger..so on with your google account and if you have uploaded photos to any of those google products, then those photos show up in Google Photos.

It is possible that you have left your Bluetooth ON and some random people sent those photos to you via Bluetooth sharing.(Make sure you go through your Bluetooth settings)

It is possible that you joined someone's shared album and those photos show up in your Google Photos.

You set up a third party service (e.g. IFTTT) to automatically upload photos to your account.

It is possible that you downloaded those images from browser and they show up in your Google Photos.

It is possible that you are using a SD card which has someone else's pictures in them and they show up in your Google Photos.

How to stop Someone else's Photos in your Google Photos?

First it is recommended to take security check up in Google Account settings, to see if you have signed in to unknown devices. If you feel suspicious about your account activity, then i suggested you to change your google account password immediately and turn on 2 step verification.

You'll have to check if Google photos is backing up your messaging app's media folder(Facebook, WhatsApp, Hangouts, Twitter, Snapchat...so on). If this is the case, photos of other people which was sent or received on your device at some point may have been backed up to Google photos.

In your Google Photos you can stop device folders backup settings. you can choose which folder's photos you want to upload to Google Photos. you can turn off backup & sync for device folders created by messaging apps like WhatsApp, Messages, Facebook...etc.

Finally you can manually delete those unwanted pictures in Google Photos.

If you feel that the above mentioned reasons are not applicable in your case then i recommend you to take security checkup in your Google Account settings.
